Rising prices of petroleum products: Inflation reached 9.3 percent.
ISLAMABAD (03-Aug-2020) The effects of rising prices of petroleum products have come to the fore in July, with inflation reaching 9.3 percent in July. According to data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, on a monthly basis, inflation rose to 2.50% in July compared to June. Inflation reached a four-month high in July, the first month of the current fiscal year. Inflation was the highest last month at 10.2 percent.
In the first month of the financial year, compared to June this year, in urban areas, tomatoes accounted for 179 percent, vehicle fuel 27 percent, vegetables 23.84 percent, and eggs 10. Onions 82%, spices 16.61%, spices 7.57%, wheat 7.42%, potatoes 4.58%, meat 3.97%, sugar 3.82%, basin 3.07%, cigarettes 2.88%, chicken 2.6%, dairy products 1.74%, milk 1.37% and medicines 1.04 Percent became more expensive.
Similarly, in rural areas, tomatoes accounted for 129.3 percent, potatoes 88 percent, spices 59.59 percent, lentils 51.73 percent, eggs 41.1 percent, pulses 37.7 percent, chicken 35.69 percent, beans 34.57 percent, wheat 30.4 percent and ghee 23.06 percent. According to the statistics, the inflation rate was 8.6 percent in June 2020 and 8.4 percent in July 2019.
