PMLN workers angry over Maryam Nawaz's NAB appearance, demand additional police personnel

LAHORE (11-Aug-2020) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has left from Jati Umrah to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Workers arrived and showered flower petals on Maryam Nawaz's car. However, according to the latest information, League workers stormed the NAB office.

League workers got angry on the occasion of Maryam Nawaz's NAB appearance. PML-N workers tried to break the barriers while pelting stones. A riot is going on outside the NAB office. According to initial reports, PML-N workers have clashed with security personnel. 

Water Cannon is also present outside the NAB office. According to sources, several protesters have been detained while additional police personnel have also been called. It may be recalled that Yab has summoned Maryam Nawaz today (August 11) with all the details of sale and purchase of Jatiya Amra lands. NAB has prepared a questionnaire for Maryam Nawaz. NAB may also arrest Maryam Nawaz for not giving satisfactory answers. According to media reports, Maryam Nawaz, daughter of PML-N vice president and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has left for the NAB office on August 11 at the request of NAB.

There is also a large convoy of N-League workers with Maryam Nawaz. Meanwhile, a large number of PML-N leaders and workers have also gathered outside the NAB office. Along with this, a heavy contingent of police has also been deployed outside the NAB to prevent any untoward incident. Police have set up a barrier in front of the NAB office. It is to be noted that NAB officials had sent a summons to Maryam Nawaz and a questionnaire was sent to the leaders.

The questionnaire asked the Jatiya Amira to inform the NAB about the details of 1440 canal lands. What were the sources of income when the land was purchased? What was the method of purchasing the land? Land tax paid? Has the land been used for agricultural or commercial purposes? According to sources, Maryam Nawaz is accused of illegally buying land in Raiwind at very cheap prices. The Sharif family bought 3568 kanals of land in 2013 against the law.
