Spot-fixing case: PCB to file appeal against decision to reduce sentence of Umar Akmal.


LAHORE (10-Aug-2020) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that it has decided to reduce the ban on Umar Akmal for violating the PCB Anti-Corruption Code. The arbitrator will file an appeal in court. This decision has been taken after a detailed review of the detailed decision issued by the Independent Adjudicator, according to which the ban on Umar Akmal was reduced from 36 months to 18 months in a sympathetic manner.

The decision of the Independent Adjudicator under Section 7.5.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code can be appealed only to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport. The PCB believes that a senior cricketer like Umar Akmal was well aware of the consequences of not informing the authorities about the contacts after attending several lectures on anti-corruption at the national and international levels.
