Tensions between the United States and Iran have risen, with both countries on red alert.

WASHINGTON (13-Aug-2020) Tensions between the United States and Iran are rising and both countries are on red alert, a US military official has said. The Liberian-flagged oil tanker was briefly seized near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the US Broadcasting Corporation, the US Central Command released a black and white video showing Special Forces descending rapidly from a helicopter on a MV villa, their last position near the city. Seen in Khorfkan off the east coast of the United Arab Emirates.

A U.S. military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Iranian navy held the ship in custody for about five hours before leaving. He said Vela did not provide any assistance during or after the siege. The Iranian helicopter Skorsky SH3, also known as the Sea King (Sea King), was seen in the operation, which is owned only by the Iranian navy.

The Iranian navy oversees all operations in the Gulf of Oman on the eastern shore of the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil trade passes. The U.S. Central Command said two other Iranian ships also took part in the seizure, but U.S. military officials did not give a reason for the seizure by Iran. On the other hand, Iranian state media and officials immediately responded. Did not recognize the action nor offered any reason for it.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), a seven-nation ally on the Arabian Peninsula, has not received a request from Iranian authorities for comment on the matter, according to UN records. Is a Liberian company managed by the Greek firm IMSSA. The private maritime intelligence firm Dryed Global said it suspected that two other Iranian ships had been intercepted by Iranian paramilitary Revolutionary Guards in the Persian Gulf last week. Harassment was based on the behavior of the ships.
