ISLAMABAD (13-Aug-2020) Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has said that the final decision to reopen the schools will be taken on September 7, adding that the schools will not be reopened yet. Accordingly, a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Education was held in which the education system in schools, fees and opening of schools were reviewed.
In the meeting, the committee decided that schools cannot be opened yet. The administration will take action against whoever opens the school. The Education Minister said that a meeting of NCOC will be convened on September 7. Will make the final decision to open. In the meeting, committee member Sadaqat Abbasi said that private schools also fix the fees voluntarily.
There should be a check and balance for private school fees. Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that there are three education systems in our country at present. The number of English medium schools is 60 to 70 lakh. If there are low fee schools in the country, then there are government schools. 70% of the children study in government schools. The third category is madrassas where children study after the eighth grade. It should be noted that the private school association has announced to open the school from August 15 in any case.
Earlier in the day, All Pakistan Private Schools Association officials said that private schools would be opened across the country this month. Ignoring the restrictions imposed by the government, educational institutions will be opened from August 15 in any case. It has been said that if the government wants to make arrests, it can do so, but private educational institutions will continue to open.
If the government abuses, then there will be a long march with the teachers. It should be noted that DG Private Schools Karachi Mansoob Siddiqui has warned that private educational institutions will not be allowed to open from August 15. The statement was issued by the officials of the National Action Committee comprising representatives of private schools across the country following the announcement of opening of private educational institutions across Pakistan from August 15.
